In the wake of a significant security breach that resulted in the theft of nearly $1.5 billion worth of Ethereum, Bybit Fintech Limited has announced robust new security measures. The cryptocurrency exchange has forged a partnership with Zodia Custody, a trusted digital asset storage solution backed by major financial institutions, to safeguard clients’ assets.

Bybit Boosts Security with Zodia Custody Partnership Post-Hack

Bybit Fintech Limited has disclosed enhanced security measures after suffering a $1.45 billion hack in February 2025. The leading cryptocurrency exchange has partnered with Zodia Custody, backed by major financial institutions, to provide clients with a safer digital asset storage solution. The February hack, one of the largest in crypto history, saw nearly $1.5 billion worth of Ethereum stolen by the North Korean Lazarus Group, exposing significant security weaknesses.

Lazarus Group Reportedly Gains $2.51M from Selling WBTC

The notorious Lazarus Group from North Korea has allegedly made a profit of $2.51 million by selling 40.78 Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) for 1,847 Ethereum (ETH) after holding it for nearly two years. The group has been actively laundering stolen crypto, moving about 500,000 ETH, worth $1.39 billion, from the Bybit hack within 10 days to THORChain to process transactions. According to SpotOnChain data, a wallet linked to the North Korean hacker group recently sold 40.778 WBTC for 1,847 ETH, worth $3.51 million. After the transaction, 2.507 ETH was divided into three wallets with transfers sent to another address connected to the group.
